Im grieving my daughters pancreas. It has been 16 months since Arielle was diagnosed with type 1- juvenile diabetes. This is our story. First I'd like to start with the five stages of grief and how grief has affected us during the las year.
When a person experience a loss there are generally five stages of grief that they experience. Each person grieves differently and may or may not experience all five stages.
DENIAL The first stage that people experience is usually denial. During this stage they do not accept the loss. They do not acknowledge that they have suffered a loss. This stage may last for a short period of time.
ANGER Then a person may experience anger. They can't understand why this loss has happened to them and often become upset with what was lost.
BARGAINING The next stage of grief is bargaining. During this stage the person may pray to God to reverse the situation.
DEPRESSION The fourth stage is depression. During this stage the person feels hopeless, frustration, and at times may feel suicidal.
ACCEPTANCE The last stage of grief is acceptance. During this stage a person accepts the loss and that it is not their fault and that there is nothing that they can do to change it.
Currently, I am still flirting between depression and acceptance. I have accepted my daughters loss but I am still struggling with the life of diabetes.
